Korund

Believed to be decendents of Krikhi, God of Power, the Korund have been around for thousands of years and are devoutly religious, loyal to only Krikhi.

Peaceful and tribal, the Korund live in the volcanic deserts of Gal-Danang. The history of their evolution, long lost after the Second Great War, is universally believed to be designed by Krikhi. It is said he created their scales, made entirely of precious stones, in direct response to living within the lands of the Gal-Danang volcanoes of which their Realm is named. Hence the name, Korund, deriving from the aluminum oxide chemistry of their skin, called korundum, that protects them from the extreme heat of the desert and volcanic flows.

Korund society revolves around politeness, kindness, and peacefulness, a stark dichotomy from their chief domestic export. Slow to anger, light in emotional expression, and stoicly honest, Korund are not prone to subterfuge or vanity and believe in charity over wealth. Homelessness, poverty, and starvation are not found in Korund society. Food, shelter, and general care are free to all, including visitors from other nations.

Korund work together, shouldering the load equally, in all things, between men and women, within their individual communities, tribes, and the nation as a whole. As a result, they value their elders and trust in the leadership of age and experience. The Korund Leadership begins with the tribes, of which there are five: Kalabali (jades scales), Jurndor (diamond scales), Rofin (ruby scales), Truglak (sapphire scales), Grendra (emerald scales). Each tribe is divided into clans of which there are thousands. Each clan sends its eldest member to the tribal council as their permament representative and each council sends their oldest member to the Tribal Assembly with the eldest member of the Assembly holding the title of National Elder until their death, when the next eldest Korund takes their place as National Elder.

CUSKA

CUSKA

Cuska, named after the god that created them, Cuskatana, long banished from the world, Cuska are an enigma to the rest of Conishant. Considered to be the most dangerous and evil creatures that live on the continent, the Cuska are completely contained within the Valley of Cusk, a twelve mile valley that serves as the natural boarder between the Toerge Mountain chain and the northern edge of the Rhinewoods.

Most would not recognize a Cuska if they saw one, their appearance having been relgated to centuries of lore. Their reputation is so fearsome that travelers will go hundreds of miles out of their way to avoid approaching the valley. No one knows how the Cuska became trapped in the valley but most assume that the gods worked together to ensure the protection of the world.

The Cuska pray for the day that Cuskatana will return and free them from the prison of the valley and allow them to take their rightful place as rulers of the continent.
